The Hoot (as in Hootenanny) Wrap Up

11 Jul

We did it!! We survived our first event!! And we would like to take a moment to thank everyone who came out and saw us, all our new and old fans, we had a blast meeting everyone!

Because this was our first event, we didn’t know what to expect, but we were surprised by how much fun it was! For those of you who are not local, or unable to go to the Hootenanny, it was hosted in Irvine, CA at the Irvine Lake.

It was an adventure for us to get there! We got lost several times and drove in one big circle! Then when we did get there, we found out our spot had a little bit of a hill on one side, so all the run-through prepping our buyer Rachel ran us through didn’t prepare us for this! But we handled it like champs and this is what our booth ended up looking like:

We were so proud of the way it turned out! Here are some of the detail shots of how we set up our tables:

We brought with us our Lux de Ville purses and accessories,as well as our Bettie Page accessories!

We were lucky enough to be near the entrance of the event and got to see everyone as they were walking towards the main stage to see the bands. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot! We could hear all the bands that played on the main stage, and can we just say, there were some AWESOME musicians there! Some of our favorites were the Wreckin Katz, Goddam Gallows, and The Bouncing Souls. All of us were swaying to the melodies while we worked at the booth.

There was also a car show towards the back of the event where owners of vintage rides could set up and show off their sweet wheels. One of our favorite cars was a tricked out hearse. It had been remodeled, painted a deep burgundy, and given new velvet hangings in the back. But the BEST part was the casket hot rod they had built. It looked like a soap box cart, had Herman Munster made it for Eddie! It was seriously one of the coolest things we saw all day!

We got to meet a lot of new people, some who had never even heard of us! We were so excited to be able to share our clothes with new fans!

This is one of our new fans that we met! She came to our booth with her boyfriend who wanted to buy her a dress. She knew she wanted a fitted dress so Rachel set to work pulling looks and we found a winner, the Stop Staring Lockheart Red Fitted dress! But can we tell you it was such a riot working with her!

She looked great in everything we could have dressed her in but when it came to the color choice, dilemma! The choice between red and black was tough. She really liked the black but the red really made her stand out in the crowd!

After asking her boyfriend, friends, and us, we all came up with red as the favorite! She was a girl after our own heart, she HAD to wear her dress to the Hoot and changed right there in our booth! Her boyfriend said, “You’re going to wear that now?!? It’ll get messed up in the Hoot!!!” she didn’t care. The only thing that mattered was looking good at her first event, and we loved her insistence on this point!

When we had some free time we took turns walking around and checking out the other booths and vendors.

Here is our buyer Rachel having a little fun taking photos!

The whole thing was a great experience for our team! We can’t wait to do more shows and festivals! If you go to an event and think we should be there, email us and let us know! We would love to hear from you and find out where we can bring our clothing to!
